Brother of man killed by CATS bus comes to Charlotte for answers

A CATS bus, a bike and a deadly crash. It's been nearly a month since Todd Weaver died. Now his brother is in Charlotte from Ohio to visit with family and police.
Looking at picture after picture, Mark Weaver likes to remember his brother being a person of high energy, animated and charismatic.
The reality of his brother’s death is another picture Mark Weaver has on his mind. Todd Weaver was on his bike and cycling on South Tryon Street when a CATS bus turned left hitting and killing him.
“I just couldn't believe what happened. It just happened,” a witness said.
Witnesses said Todd Weaver seemed unaware of the bus. His brother says no way. He rode with his brother three months ago - he says Todd Weaver always stressed safety.
“Todd was fastidious about all the different safety equipment. He knew what not to do,” Mark Weaver said.
That's why he wanted to visit with investigators and the district attorney who will decide whether to press charges against the bus driver. CATS fired Jerry Miller shortly after the crash, the accident his fifth driving offense.
“I just want to make sure that Todd's respected, cyclists are respected. And that we don't just have a filing on a failure to yield right of way. That’s just a simple citation or something like that,” Mark Weaver said.
Mark Weaver said they were planning a ride together again. They never got the chance. Instead, he rode Todd Weaver's commute, the 25 miles that headed home.
“It was actually very good. I felt closer to Todd. We couldn't do a ride together, but I could do a ride he had done,” Mark Weaver said.
Mark Weaver also went to one of his brother's favorite bike shops. The owner there is working with CATS and the city to find ways to better educate drivers on how to share the road. As for the investigation, officers present their findings to the district attorney in the next few weeks.

what was best for you, and he loved you all so much.
What a great man that I had the honor of knowing
for such a short time, but who made such a lasting impression.
